Woman avoids injury after collision with train

COMMERCE CITY – One woman escaped injury after her vehicle collided with a train early Sunday morning.

    Commerce City police officers responded to the 6800 block of Highway 2 at 3:46 a.m. in reference to a vehicle struck by a train.

    The driver of the vehicle, Haly Mitchell, 32, said she was north on State Highway 2 when another vehicle swerved into her lane.  She then attempted to avoid the vehicle and went off the road, colliding with the southbound train. Mitchell was not injured in the accident.

    The Commerce City Police Department is investigating the incident.

    Any witnesses with additional information are asked to contact the Commerce City Police Department at 303-287-2844.
