COMMERCE CITY – The Commerce City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in a death investigation that began Saturday night.

Chase Steven Covington, 26, of Denver, was found lying in the roadway in the 5900 block of U.S. Highway 85, at about 11:30 p.m.

Covington was pronounced dead at the scene after officers from the Commerce City Police Department arrived.

The Commerce City Police Department is attempting to determine if Covington was a victim of a hit-and-run accident, or maybe a victim of an assault.

Covington attended a wedding at the El Jardin restaurant in Commerce City, near 72nd Ave and Colorado Highway 2, on Saturday. He left that wedding between 9 and 9:30 p.m. wearing a black suit with a gray shirt and tie. He contacted a friend around 10:30 p.m. via text message. This was the last known contact he had with family or friends. It is unknown how Covington got from 72nd Avenue and Colorado Highway 2 to the 5900 block of Colorado Highway 85.

This case is still under investigation.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have any information or was in the area of U.S. Highway 85 and 60th Avenue on Saturday night between the hours of 11 to 11:30 p.m. Call police at 303-227-8836.
