One dead after U.S. 85 crash

COMMERCE CITY ee* Police have yet to identify the man killed in a collision this morning on U.S. Highway 85.

According to Commerce City Police, the accident happened about 7 a.m. at the intersection of East 112th Avenue and U.S. Highway 85 when an Ford F-350 truck traveling north on Highway 85 collided head on with a Pontiac Vibe attempting to make a left urn onto eastbound 112th Avenue.

The accident caused severe damage to both vehicles and the driver of the Pontiac was transported to Denver Health Medical Center where he died of his injuries. His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

The driver of the F-350, a 22-year-old male was uninjured in the collision. A 26-year-old male passenger from the same vehicle was transported to Platte Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.

The accident investigation team is still working to determine which vehicle had the right of way. The investigation is ongoing and any criminal or traffic related charges will be determined at a later time.
