Margeurite C. Unrein, 84, of Brighton, died Dec. 26, 2009.
She was born April 3, 1925 in Herington, Kan. and graduated from Herington High School. She married Dempsey Unrein Aug. 11, 1947, in Brighton. Margeurite was a Brighton resident for close to 60 years and a been a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church for that same time. She worked at an Air Force Base in Kansas as a mechanics helper. In her earlier years, she worked as a switchboard operator for Mountain Bell. She had spent many years raising her family until her children were in school. She then worked as a baker for Brighton 27J School District for 10 years. She also helped operate the family business from the VFW to the Upholstery shop and the Old Alley 3.2 bar.
Survivors include her daughters, Mildred (Richard) Pearson, of Brighton, Sarah Anderson, of Centennial, Shirley Schissler, of Brighton, Linda (Lee) Russom, of Brighton; sons Arthur (Lesli) Unrein, of Morgan, Utah, Gene (Kathy), Unrein, of Fort Lupton, Phillip Unrein, of Commerce City; sister, Lola Mae Gant, of Morgington, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1994; son, Kenneth, in 1973, two sisters; and one brother.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m., Dec. 30, at Tabor Rice Funeral Home in Brighton. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m., Dec. 31, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton.
