The Adams 14 Board of Education welcomed new school board members at its regular meeting Nov. 10.
Board members Adrian Schimpf and Robert Vashaw took their seats with the board after the oath of office. Vashaw previously served a two-year term, while Schimpf is a newcomer.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the board named its officers. Board president is Jeannette Lewis; Vashaw is vice president; Bill Klocker is secretary; and Larry Quintana is treasurer.
Board members expressed gratitude for the dedicated service of board director Jeff Smith, who completed a temporary appointment on the board. Smith served the community several times as a board member and was honored with a plaque that reads, “One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of home I lived in, how much I had in my bank account – nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child.”
Members also reaffirmed their goals as a board:
• To ensure all students will be at or above grade level;
• To continually review programs and policies to ensure students are prepared for the 21st Century;
•To continue our commitment to sustainable fiscal management and accountability;
• To recruit and maintain the best qualified and well-trained work force;
•To embrace the community as partners in the success of our students.
